Rod Macpherson has extensive experience in the finance industry where he worked, in an executive capacity, both in Australia and overseas for over 30 years with Westpac and in the credit union industry. He was responsible for all aspects of people management and recruitment, in particular the development of values driven leadership and culture to drive business performance.

Rod has strong community involvement and is currently an executive member of the Coffs Harbour Club and Area Governor of Toastmasters International. He has been an appointed member of the North Coast Institute of TAFE Council for the past five years and on the executive of local AFL for over ten years.

Rod has his own business (HR People Matters) and is assisting local business with all sorts of people issues including industrial relations, executive coaching, strategic planning, policy, recruitment, staff retention and performance management. He is also coaching and facilitating leadership programs run through Leadership Management Australia (LMA) as well as running his own leadership seminars. In more recent times he has taken up the position of General Manager of Affirmations in Bellingen.

Rod’s involvement with R&R Care began in 2011. He was assisting with the preparation of the Enterprise Agreement and became a big fan of what were  doing. He jumped at the opportunity to join the Board and help guide the organisation through the major changes facing the industry. He became Chairperson at the AGM in 2011. He is very excited to be involved with R&R and particularly with engaging the community and making a difference in the lives of our most vulnerable citizens.

  • I’m emailing today to tell you how great my support worker is; not only is he very patient, helpful and quick-thinking, but he’s also the most friendly worker I’ve had to date. Whenever I’m not feeling my best, he seems to see that and not push me to do things that I’d otherwise be willing to do, however when I am feeling able to do things, he encourages me to do it myself, he teaches me how to do it if I’m not understanding, or congratulates me when I do it by myself.
