
R&R Care’s skills development program offers a verity of high quality training and independent living skills to provide participants with opportunities to continue to learn and develop new skills throughout their lives.

Participants meet at R&R Rec room before heading to Yoga held at a community hall. Yoga is provided by a trained instructor with personalised coaching. Yoga improves flexibility, increases balance, develops strength, benefits concentration and focus, gives clarity and calms the minds.

Participants select a recipe via google search, recipe books etc. Participants list shopping ingredients and purchase from local supermarkets supported by a support worker who is also a trained chef. Support staff assist participants with budgeting within the groups allocated approved spends. Participants are assisted by support staff to prepare, cook and clean. Participants share the meal before the activity ends.

Participants meet at R&R Rec room before heading to Zumba held at a community hall. Zumba is provided by a trained instructor with personalised coaching. Zumba is a cardio workout that is a fun, social dance party. The music is fast, upbeat and contagious, so you can’t help but keep moving. Since it takes place in a group setting, Zumba is by far one of the best ways to develop new friendships.

Participants receiving mentoring in reading a menu, independently ordering food, money handling, communicating with staff and social behaviours. Price includes transport to and from local dining venues within central pickup and drop off area. Required pickup and drop off outside central local area will incur additional costs (87c per km).

Horse Riding Time: 9am to 12 noon

Goal: Improved balance, body strength and confidence

Participants meet at R&R before proceeding to horse riding venue. Horse riding is a natural reflex inhibiting position which helps improve balance and posture providing a unique form of exercise and rehabilitation.

Goal: Remember routines, improved memory skills, social and confidence building

Participants play music and sing along. Goal is to perform at the end of year R&R party to showcase skills. May also perform at nursing home during Christmas season.

Participants engage in a DIY craft program run by Bunnings. A sense of accomplishment and being able to take home completed tasks. All materials are supplied are by Bunnings.

Participants meet at R&R before proceeding to local hardware store. Participants engage in a DIY activities hosted by trained home handyman staff. Support worker prompt, assist and reassure supporting participants to achieve a sense of accomplishment. Participants enjoy being able to take home completed tasks.

Participant learn and plan how to make small changes to their diet and exercise to improve their health and wellbeing.
R&R have trained personal trainers (PT) who can assist participants to develop a eating and exercise plan to assist with meeting their goal. This service is charged at an additional cost and is aligned to the NDIS pricing and delivery guide.

Creative Writing Time: 10am to 12:30pm
Goal: Improve literacy skills

Held at R&R Rec room. Participants work on individual writing projects. Staff assist with refreshments, spelling, and grammar and encourage outings to generate new ideas for story lines.

Goal: Improve communication and friendship

Participants meet at R&R and drive to a local farm. Travel within the shift is included in the support cost. Support workers apply different communication techniques utilising assistive technology, arts and craft and environmental projects to assist participants with reducing communication barriers. Participants must bring a packed lunch.

Goal: Confidence building, expressive body language, human interaction and improved speech

Participants meet at R&R and are driven to a local community based venue. Participants experience all aspects of the film making processes, from story boarding ideas, filming, acting, editing, and the production process all the way to screen.
The program is a workshop with assistance proportional to needs. A green screen, studio lighting and camera are set up. Members get into their role with costumes and are prompted through their scenes by the facilitator until the scenes are complete. All participants contribute to the story and character development, acting scenes and completing audio recordings. The final production will be available for purchase by family and friends following a community showing.
